What a night to remember! Saturday May 4, 2013 witnessed a stellar turnout. Former OCHS/Dwyer Alumni spent an evening reminiscing while listening to the tunes of Dan Clancy and his band. Thank you to all who attended. We have posted pictures in the photo album tab at the side. Please feel free to upload any pictures you had taken and would like to share.
Our 50th Anniversary Celebrations culminated on Friday May 10, 2013. His Excellency, Thomas Cardinal Collins, visited Dwyer to celebrate a special Closing Mass at the school . Following the Mass, a dinner was held at the Oshawa Golf Club to honour once again the Sisters of St. Joseph and formally close our 50th Celebrations. Many former Staff were present at this event and the Sisters were truly humbled by the recognition they received.
Our Saints Alumni Award continues to grow and all donations are tax deductible. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our school's rich history than to create a sustaining scholarship for future graduates. You can still donate securely online on this website. SAINTS ALUMNI....LET'S MAKE AN EFFORT TO GROW THIS SCHOLARSHIP FUND !
A special outdoor garden to honour the Sisters was blessed by his Excellency, Cardinal Collins, before the closing mass. Anniversary bricks can still be purchased for $100 and will be placed in the garden . We are unable to process any credit cards so cash or cheque would be most appreciated. The money collected to support the Anniversary bricks will still go to the Saints Alumni Award/Fund. To date, over $7000.00 has been collected. WAY TO GO SAINTS !
On another note, you can easily message any alumni registered through this site . We have shut down the tab exposing emails effectively eliminating spam so there should be no reason to be concerned about your email being accessed.
Many have commented on the 'In Memoriam' section of this site. Former OCHS/DWYER Staff and Students are honoured and alumni have the ability to leave tributes.
We would like to offer our prayers and condolences to the Family of Arthur ( Art) Chai who recently passed away. Many of us have fond memories of Art and he will be remembered always. You can leave your tribute to Art or any other on this site.
Stayed tuned! As we enter the fall of 2014, we anticipate a number of events bringing former alumni together again. Plan for a golf tournament in the spring of 2015. Details to follow. Thanks to all for keeping our traditions strong.
